FROM $500 USD / 3 Days
price p.p. incl. guide, private 4x4 safari jeep, accommodation, park fees and meals, excl. international flight (low season, 6-7 persons, budget lodges)
A Tsavo East and West safari covers Kenya’s largest protected ecosystem, combining open plains, volcanic terrain, freshwater springs, and strong biodiversity, with noticeably fewer crowds than parks like the Maasai Mara or Amboseli.
This 3 day Tsavo safari from Nairobi is designed for logical routing and maximum wildlife viewing across two contrasting parks in a single trip. From the red-dust elephants of Tsavo East to Mzima Springs and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary in Tsavo West, each day covers distinct terrain and wildlife.
From Nairobi to Tsavo East, on to Tsavo West, and back to Nairobi, here’s where your safari takes you:
It covers two contrasting ecosystems, Tsavo East's open plains and Tsavo West's volcanic terrain and springs, in a single trip, with fewer crowds than more commercial parks like the Maasai Mara.
From $500 per person in low season for a group of 6–7 in a budget lodge, up to $1310 per person for a solo luxury tour in peak season. Guide, transport, accommodation, park fees, and meals are included, see Prices and What's Included for full details.
Day 1 covers the drive to and game drives in Tsavo East; Day 2 transitions to Tsavo West via Mzima Springs and the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary; Day 3 covers a final game drive and the return to Nairobi. Full details are in the Itinerary tab.
Budget, mid-range, and luxury lodges and tented camps in both parks, including Satao Camp and Ashnil Aruba Lodge in Tsavo East, and Severin Safari Camp and Kilaguni Serena in Tsavo West.
Tsavo is larger and less crowded than both, with a stronger focus on volcanic landscapes, red-dust elephants, and rhino conservation, rather than the concentrated wildlife viewing of the Mara or Amboseli's Kilimanjaro backdrop.
This Tsavo East and West safari price depends on your lodge category (budget, mid-range, or luxury), the season you travel, and your group size, since accommodation ranges from simple tented camps to eco-luxury lodges across both parks. As with our other packages, larger groups bring the per-person rate down.

After breakfast, transfer to Tsavo West National Park. The terrain shifts to rolling hills, lava flows, and freshwater springs. The main stop is Mzima Springs, where clear, spring-fed pools support hippos, crocodiles, fish, and water birds.
The itinerary also includes a guided drive through the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, home to a protected population of endangered black rhinos. Overnight is at your chosen lodge or tented camp in Tsavo West.

A final morning game drive covers hartebeest, impala, bushbaby, and vervet monkeys in acacia woodland. After breakfast, a last game drive precedes departure from the park, with the return drive to Nairobi arriving around 5:30 PM.
Satao Camp — Best for continuous game viewing. Arranged in a semi-circle around a floodlit waterhole that draws elephants, zebra, and buffalo throughout the day and night.
Ashnil Aruba Lodge — Best for dam-side views. Situated on the edge of Aruba Dam on the Voi River, with the main deck doubling as one of the park's best game-viewing spots.
Galdessa Camp — Best for luxury and river-based wildlife viewing. Set on the banks of the Galana River, which draws animals reliably, especially in the dry season.
Severin Safari Camp — Best for scenic views and quiet luxury. Set against Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills, with spacious tents, private verandas, an open-air spa, and a riverside location that attracts wildlife throughout the day.
Ngulia Safari Lodge — Best for families and adventure seekers. Sits on the Ndawe Escarpment overlooking the Rhino Sanctuary, with nightly leopard sightings possible at its floodlit waterhole, and easy access to Mzima Springs and Shetani Lava Flow.
Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge — Best for romantic escapes and eco-luxury. Overlooks a busy waterhole drawing elephants and buffalo daily, with stone-built rooms and a strong sustainability focus.
This safari can also be started from Mombasa or extended into a longer coastal or Amboseli circuit, ask us about tailoring your route and lodge selection.
Tsavo is a year-round destination. Peak season (July–October and late December–early January) offers the best game viewing, while shoulder and low season bring quieter parks and lower rates.
