Day 01: Nairobi – Masai Mara game reserve (265 km – Approx. 5-6 hrs)
Meal plan: L/D
0730hrs: You shall be picked from your Nairobi hotel or Nairobi airport
Proceed to the MAASAI MARA RESERVE -Kenya’s and Africa’s finest wildlife reserve.
On day 1 your driver/guide will swing by your hotel or location of choice at 7:30 to begin the adventure. We’re off to the Masai Mara, perhaps the most famous park in the world and certainly the most popular park in Kenya.
Why so popular? It could be because of the incredible density of wildlife here. Or, because the “Big Five” and over 90 other mammals move over these acacia accented plains. Or it might be the site of nature’s mightiest display of survival as millions of wildebeest and zebra storm into the reserve in a mighty procession called the Great Migration.
In this environment, we’ll enjoy unlimited game viewing and journey down to the Mara River, site of the crossing. This is where the migrating herds enter the Mara from the neighboring Serengeti. We’ll also be watching for hippo and crocodile, lying beneath the murky waters.
To experience the Mara to the fullest, you can take an optional hot air balloon safari over the park. And closer to the ground, visit one of the local villages to meet and learn about the indigenous Maasai people. Just ask your guide for details.
Overnight at your Masai Mara safari lodge or tented camp.
